Expeditions And Specialist Training

EAST Expeditions delivers Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions and residential’s, a range of outdoor activities and first aid training courses.

East Exped has twenty five years’ experience running all aspects of DofE and DofE expeditions

DofE has 4 elements to the Bronze and Silver Award –

  • Expedition

When you do Gold then there is also the Residential as well.

EAST Exped Ltd provides the Expedition element of the DofE awards.

Bronze Training & Qualifier

Your Bronze Expedition typically takes place over 2 weekends, a Training weekend and then a Qualifier Weekend.

You will be provided with Tent, Rucksack, Trangia & fuel. You will need to provide your own food for the expedition, and personal kit. See Kit List

Days 1 & 2: Pre-expedition training and navigation walk: We will cover all aspects of the Bronze pre-expedition training syllabus, including a navigation walk, campcraft, route planning and emergency procedures.

Days 3 & 4: You and your team will complete your 2 day qualifying expedition (assessed by a DofE Accredited Assessor).

At the end of this you will give a presentation to your Assessor meaning all aspects of the Expedition Section are signed off.

Silver Training & Qualifier

Your Silver Expedition typically takes place over 2 weekends, a Training weekend and then a Qualifier Weekend.

You will be provided with Tent, Rucksack, Trangia & fuel. You will need to provide your own food for the expedition, and personal kit. See Kit List

Training (3 days): We will cover all aspects of the Bronze Expedition training syllabus, including a navigation walk, campcraft, route planning and emergency procedures. Day 3 is a chance for groups to work with remote supervision, preparing ready for their Qualifier.

Qualifying expedition programmes (3 days): You will have planned your routes ready for your three day qualifying expedition assessed by a DofE Accredited Assessor. At the end of this you will give a presentation to your Assessor meaning all aspects of the Expedition Section are signed off.

Gold Training & Qualifier

Your Gold Expedition typically takes place over 2 sessions, a 4 day Training weekend and then a 4 day Qualifier Weekend.

You will be provided with Tent, Rucksack, Trangia & fuel. You will need to provide your own food for the expedition, and personal kit. See Kit List

Training (4 days): We will cover all aspects of the Gold Expedition training syllabus, including a navigation walk, campcraft, route planning and emergency procedures. Day 3&4 is a chance for groups to work with remote supervision, preparing ready for their Qualifier.

Qualifying expedition (4 days): You will have planned your routes ready for your four day qualifying expedition assessed by a DofE Accredited Assessor. At the end of this you will give a presentation to your Assessor meaning all aspects of the Expedition Section are signed off.

First Aid

East Exped Ltd will be running First Aid Courses accredited by ITC – they will be 16 hour Outdoor First Aid Courses, held in North East Wales.
